- MOMA Hosts Party for 2009 Armory Show -
Featuring music from Gang Gang Dance and DJ set by Justin Miller (DFA)
New York, February 18, 2009 - The Museum of Modern Art is hosting a party for The Armory Show 2009. Attendees will have the rare opportunity to dance at one of the world's best museums to a DJ set by Justin Miller of DFA Records and to experience a live concert by Manhattan experimental rock phenomenon Gang Gang Dance.
The New York Times recently raved that "Gang Gang Dance Goes from Cult Figures to a Band of the Moment," and the group is well known in art circles, having participated in the 2008 Whitney Biennial. Justin Miller is a key figure in DFA Records, seminal purveyors of the Williamsburg Disco Punk sound.
Tickets begin at $100 and the party benefits the exhibition programming for MoMA and PS1. The party will be held at the museum on March 4, 2009, from 8:30 - 11:30 pm. A shuttle will be available from The Armory Show to MoMA from 6:00 to 8:30 pm.
The relationship between The Armory Show and MoMA stems back to 2001, the year in which the fair dedicated its opening day to the museum and in which the Pat Hearn Acquisition Fund at The Museum of Modern Art was founded.
