Armory Show Preview and Party at MoMA
MARCH 7, 2012

The Museum of Modern Art will host The Armory Party, a benefit event with live music and DJs celebrating the opening of The Armory Show on Wednesday, March 7, 2012. The Armory Show, the marquee international art fair held annually in New York City, is devoted to showcasing the most important artworks of the 20th and 21st centuries. The evening reception, along with the daytime Early Access Preview at Piers 92 and 94, benefits exhibition programming for The Museum of Modern Art and MoMA PS1.

The acclaimed band Neon Indian will perform live at The Armory Party in MoMA’s Agnes Gund Garden Lobby. The brainchild of Alan Palomo, Neon Indian has released two critically lauded albums, Psychic Chasms (2009) and Era Extraña, which was released on September 13, 2011. Having received praise in Rolling Stone, SPIN, and Pitchfork, Neon Indian has also performed at festivals including South by Southwest, Bonnaroo, and Sasquatch, along with opening slots for bands ranging from Massive Attack to The Flaming Lips to Phoenix.

The 2012 Armory Party runs from 9:00 p.m. to midnight, and features a VIP Hour from 8:00 to 9:00 p.m. The VIP Hour includes access to MoMA’s sixth-floor galleries and a meet-and-greet with the 2012 Armory Show’s commissioned artist, Theaster Gates, in addition to access to The Armory Party at 9:00 p.m.

Tickets for the benefit range from $125 to $750, and may be purchased by visiting a href="https://MoMAarmoryshow.org" target="_blank">MoMAarmoryshow.org, calling MoMA’s Department of Special Programming and Events at (212) 708-9680, or e-mailing gro/amom//stnevelaiceps.
