At the end of 2008, the young gallerists Curro and Poncho opened one of the first contemporary art spaces in the Mexican city of Guadalajara in the award-winning “Torre CUBE” building by Catalan architect Carme Pinós. The gallery was born as a response to the urgency of having exhibition spaces for local artists, and over the years the gallery expanded its representation base to national and international artists. Now CURRO has established itself as a must-see reference for the Mexican contemporary art scene outside the capital.

A year round of in-house shows and international art fair participations —becoming the first Guadalajara based project participating in some of these, plus private and public commissioned art projects, artist books and first solo presentations of international artists are some highlights of CURRO’s program. In 2020, CURRO opened a new space in the traditional district of “Santa Tere” in Guadalajara, a milestone in the consolidation of the gallery and its represented artists. A fresh program will engage diverse practices and artists to reflect and dialogue with the local and international context.
