Edwynn Houk Gallery
Since its inception, Edwynn Houk Gallery has established a reputation as one of the nation’s premier photography galleries. Working with both private collectors and institutions, the gallery has assisted in building a number of private and public collections and locating the best examples of significant works by both modern and contemporary photographers.
Houk Gallery specializes in vintage photographs from 1917-1939 by the leading figures of the Modernist movement and was one of the first in the field to concentrate on the earliest examples of these works. The gallery has since acted as the exclusive representative of the Estates of Brassaı,̈ Bill Brandt, Dorothea Lange, André Kertész, Ilse Bing, the Robert Frank Archive, and many of the major figures of the 20th Century.
Beginning with the exclusive representation of Sally Mann in 1989, the gallery has continued to identify and cultivate a select group of leading contemporary photographers and has organized solo exhibitions by a roster of renowned international artists including Lynn Davis, Robert Polidori, Valerie Belin, Lalla Essaydi, Vera Lutter, and Abelardo Morell. Edwynn Houk Gallery has mounted over 200 exhibitions and published more than a dozen monographs.
