In 1988, Friedrich Loock founded 'Galerie Wohnmaschine' in his private apartment in former East Berlin. 20 years later in 2008, the gallery relocated and moved to a larger space next to the contemporary art museum Hamburger Bahnhof and was renamed to 'LOOCK Galerie' while expanding its program. The gallery currently focuses on contemporary art, domestic and international art trading, and the promotion of mid-career European, American and Japanese artists in the fields of photography, painting and installation art. In addition to cooperating with upcoming voices from the art scene, one of the gallery's core impetus is to promote the work of East German photographers. LOOCK Galerie represents the estates of Sibylle Bergemann, York der Knöfel and established photographer Ulrich Wüst.
